President’s Message September 2023

It is with great sadness that our longtime club member Al Karschner has passed away. Judy and her children will plan a memorial service later this fall.  Please keep Judy and her family in your prayers.

Our Ohio State Campus Tour to the new Waterman Agricultural and Natural Resources Laboratory was on Friday, August 11. We had a very small group attend but what a wonderful tour.  Buckeye Marv, Karen Stotz and I had lunch at the Varsity Club.  The food and fellowship did not disappoint.

Our Away Football Bus Trip will be Nov 4 vs Rutger’s through our partnership with Reynold’s Travel.  This is our main fundraiser for our scholarship fund so go to their site to obtain more details.

Our Group Home Football game is on October 21 vs Penn State. Tailgate party is being planned. 

Betsy Grimes has planned a “Cook with Me” event for Oct 27 at 6 p.m. We will cook Coq au Vin together. It is a “French peasant food” and will be using the Ina Garten’s recipe.  Watch for the zoom link to join Betsy Grimes and Gerard Fournier for this fun upcoming event.

Our Annual Christmas Party will be held on December 8, 2023 at Moeller Brew Barn. More details to follow.

We are still in need of Buckeye Volunteers.  Please reach out if you can help with various functions and committees. We are always looking for new ideas to keep our local alums happy. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations again to our four scholarship winners.  Vaughn Cheney, Lakota East HS, Emma Letany, Fairfield HS, Jayci Geiser, Edgewood. Kaylee Wray, Fairfield HS.                          
                        
Next Monthly board and committee meeting will be next week, Sept 13 at Bourbon Kitchen, 2231 N. Verity Parkway Middletown 6 p.m.  Everyone is welcome to attend.
